The internet has reached such a level of retardation that even if you explicityly state you are joking someone somewhere is going to take you seriously.



I can't believe it, explaining that you are joking already kills it but now even if you do people are too dimwitted to even see it.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to try to salvage what is left of my brain.

Cliches to Subvert

Cliches are the great enemy. Cliches too often get into a writers work and give it a sense of staleness and predictability. So here are some pupular cliches that could work out well once subverted cleverly... the trick is... how?

1. Last Girl. This is a well known horrow movie convention. One strong female character will be a main focus as the bodies pile up. All the ethnic and social minorities are knocked off first until... shock... the last girl is left.

2. The Good Guys Win. Hard to make a loss satisfying though...

3. The Hero always gets the girl.

4. The hero is essentially a good person.

5. 'Happily Ever After'.

6. Think of Cliched setting - American cities, 'wilderness', 'the future'. Where else could you set it?

7. What about conventions of typical romance that could be totally changed?

8. Horror conventions? What about typical monsters? How could they be subverted?

9. What about 'genre' itself? How can you escape of subvert it?

10. What about the very conventions of writing itslef? Could you subvert them?
