Downwrite - Every writer is a frustrated actor who recites his lines in the hidden auditorium of his skull; Rod Serling

What is Your Favourite Book and Why?

For me I'd have to say a Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, because of it's INCREDIBLE mastery of the English language, along with a very explicit message, all wrapped up in a well told story.

Close second would be Marabou Stork Nightmare by Irvine Welsh, because of the sheer brutality of the novel, mixed with the creativity of the world created within, and the best illustrated moral I've ever experienced.

You?

Sweet fuck all really.

Ok, that was a bit strong. Bleh, lifes annoying sometimes.

Umm... I dunno, how about 'Introduction to 3D Programming with DirectX' (well you said book ).

I dunno really... it's odd. It's like one of those things I never really thought about.

meh, ok, how about the Wicked! series, yep, I'll go for that.

Illusions by Richard Bach comes to mind.

A terrific philosophical understanding of why people put too many limits upon themselves. Short to the point and very creative. A must read for people who are sick of reading depressing stories.

Crime and Punishment by Dostoyevski
Not only is it the perfect guide of how murder/suspense novels should be written, it brilliantly covers so many philisophcal and theological issues. You can call this a classic without any exaggeration. Plus he totally bags Nietzche in the subtext and I thought that was beyond brilliant.

City of Joy by Dominique Lapierre
The best novel I have read about India. Strips away all romantic preconceptions, and shows humanity on the edge of survival. From the depths of dispair you are given the most optomistic view of life.

Too many others to mention.
