Blogger Prompt - What makes a good post?
May 21st 2007 00:54
We all have our favourite posts. We also have the posts we make that we're most proud of.
But what is is that makes this post so special? What are the elements of a good post?
For me, it's got to be on a topic that interests of affects me. It's got to be sincere. It's got the be subtle - politics is fascinating, but when confidence turns to arrogance, it's not nice to read.
It's got to be well written - we are all writers, working in our craft. In that respect we have to make sure we weild our words sensibly and carefully. They should flow nicely, sound good, sound original and avoid cliches.
They also need a sense of integrity - of knowing what they're saying and not saying it in a 'so stupid I want to cringe' way, or making massive claims that are unbacked apart from - I saw it on TV, or my mate told me.
As we are working on a VISUAL written medium, we must also work with lay out.
or the left
I love people who do massive solid posts on interesting topics. However when its all lumped up in a single paragraph you can't read it. Too hard. Too tricky. You look at it and go "Woah man!" I don't even what to try any sort of attempt at working out what that massive lump of letters is trying to express. Too hard man. Too thick too fat, too black. Not enough space. So the moral of the story is that your Enter button and your spacebar are your friends. Make sure to call upon their assistance once in a while.
So that's me. What do YOU think makes a good Post?

A title.
That goes something like.
Why I ...
Don't forget you need to be part of a mutual appreciation group for it to work, otherwise you might sound just a little bit uptight.
